About me

Ashtanga Yoga made my yoga practice blossom from a mere physical exercise to an adventurous self-discovering journey which continues to amaze me up to the present day.

My interest in Yoga was awakened by a passionate philosophy teacher when I was graduating by second-chance-education for my university-entrance diploma. I was fascinated by the eastern way of looking at life and consequently began practising Hatha Yoga in 1995.

But it was only when I discovered Ashtanga Yoga that my yoga practice blossomed from a mere physical and relaxing exercise to a challenging self-discovering journey which has never ended since.

After years of pracitising yoga friends ask me to teach them and I decided to attend a four year teacher training acknowledged by the German Yoga Teacher Association (BDY).

I have been teaching since 2000 and currently teach Ashtanga Yoga in the traditional Mysore-Style in my own Studio in Cologne, Germany (www.dvipadastudio.de).

For the past 10 years I have been traveling to Mysore, India to study with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and his grandson Sharath and was authorized to teach by Pattabhi Jois in 2007. Lino Miele is my main teacher in the west.

My yoga travels also brought me to Australia, Cambodia and Thailand where I was teaching as a guest teacher. Studying traditional Thai Yoga Massage in Thailand has intensified my understanding of the body's mechanics and enhanced my skills of adjusting.

Studying at the Krishnamacharya Mandiram in Chennai, India, brought me to the source of Ashtanga Yoga and gave me a precious insight of how to adjust a yoga practice to individual needs. There I discovered my second passion: Vedic Chanting. Ideal as a companion and complement to the asana-practice it calms the mind, fosters concentration and triggers happiness.

Last year I taught Pranayama, Vedic Chanting and an introduction into Sanskrit in an Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training in Germany and next year together with my colleague Inke Shenar we will be leading an advanced training for Ashtanga Teachers in Hamburg.
